1. 서론

인공위성은 일정한 관측 폭, 주기를 가지지만 촬영시점에서의 조건이 다르므로 같은 지역이라고 해도 영상의 분광적 특성은 다르게 나타난다. 하지만 위성영상을 활용하여 국토를 모니터링하기 위해서는 모든 영상에 대해 동일한 기준이 적용되어야 한다는 문제가 있다. 따라서 기존의 연구에서는 전체 국토를 동일한 기준으로 분석하기 위하여 남한 전체를 아우르는 총 68종의 위성영상 산출물을 제작하여 전 국토에 대한 모니터링을 수행할 수 있게 한 바 있다(Baek et al., 2020). 하지만 기존의 연구는 Landsat, Sentinel-2의 RGB, NIR, SWIR 밴드만 사용함으로써 위성이 제공하는 분광적 특징을 많이 활용하지 못하였다는 아쉬움이 존재한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기존 연구에서 제작하였던 위성영상 산출물 34종의 금년 버전을 갱신함과 더불어 더 많은 밴드의 사용으로 더욱 많은 분광적 특징을 반영한 19종의 위성영상 산출물을 추가로 제공한다. 이를 위하여 미국 지질조사국(United States Geological Survey, USGS)의 Landsat-8과 유럽항공우주국(European Space Agency, ESA)의 Sentinel-2에서 제공하는 위성 자료를 수집하여 전정색정규식생지수를 포함한 각 19종의 위성 환경 데이터를 산출했다. 또한, 시계열적 양상에 대한 분석을 이어가기 위하여 2019년, 2020년과 2021년에 취득된 자료를 각각 제작하였다.

2. 연구 자료

위성영상 산출물을 제작하기 위하여 미국 지질조사국에서 운영하는 Earth Explorer와 유럽항공우주국에서 운영하는 Copernicus Open Access hub에서 자료를 수집했다. 2019, 2020년은 기존연구와 동일한 영상을 사용하였으며, 2021년은 구름의 영향이 적으면서 비슷한 시기에 촬영한 영상(3~7월 사이)을 선정하였고, 적합한 영상이 존재하지 않을 시에 1월에 촬영한 영상을 사용하였다.

Landsat-8 위성은 미국 지질조사국과 미국 항공우주국이 공동으로 운용하고 있는 위성으로 최근 Landsat-9가 발사되면서 최신형 위성의 자리에서는 내려왔지만 연구계에서 가장 많이 활용되고 있는 위성이다. 기존의 연구에서는 Landsat-8이 제공하는 TIR 대역의 밴드를 활용하지 않았지만, 본 연구에서는 TIR 밴드를 추가로 활용함으로써 분광적 특징을 넓게 활용하고자 하였다. Landsat-8 데이터는 Earth Explorer (https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/)에서 단순 보정(Level 1)된 자료와 대기 보정(Level 2)된 자료를 모두 다운로드 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 Level 2 Science Product의 Surface Reflectance Band 2, Band 3, Band 4, Band 5, Band 6, Band 7, Band 10, Band 11 (Blue, Green, Red, NIR, SWIR1, SWIR2, TIR1, TIR2)을 활용하였다(Table 1).

Sentinel-2 위성은 유럽항공우주국에서 운용하고 있는 위성으로 2015년에 발사한 Sentine-2A와 2017년에 발사한 Sentinel-2B가 존재한다. Sentinel-2는 Landsat보다 세분화된 밴드를 제공하며 RGB, NIR과 같은 밴드는 10 m의 상대적으로 고해상도의 영상을 제공한다는 특징이 존재한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 세분화된 밴드를 추가로 활용함으로 분광적 특징을 넓게 활용하고자 하였다. Sentinel-2 데이터는 Copernicus Open Access Hub(https://scihub.copernicus.eu/dhus/#/home)에서 단순 보정(Level 1)된 데이터와 대기 보정(Level 2A)된 자료를 다운로드 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 Level2A 데이터의 Band 2, Band 3, Band 4, Band 5, Band 6, Band 8, Band 9, Band 11, Band 12 (Blue, Green, Red, RedEdge1, RedEdge2, NIR, Water vapour, SWIR1, SWIR2)을 활용하였다(Table 2).

3. 자료 산출 방법

Landsat-8과 Sentinel-2 위성영상은 전 처리 과정을 거친 후 위성산출물로 제작된다. 전 처리 과정은 1) 좌표계 변환, 2) 모자이크의 순으로 수행되고 처리된 자료는 3-1) 밴드통합, 3-2) 밴드 비 분석 중 하나의 방법으로 제작된다. 각 과정에 대한 상세한 설명은 다음과 같다.

1) 좌표계 변환

Landsat-8과 Sentinel-2 위성영상의 좌표계는 모두 UTM 투영법으로 되어있는데, 환경빅데이터 플랫폼의 자료들은 UTM-K 좌표계로 통일되어 있으므로 모든 위성 영상을 UTM-K로 좌표계를 변환해주었다.

2) 모자이크

촬영 조건의 차이로 인해 발생하는 영상 낱장들 간의 분광적 특성의 차이를 해소하기 위해 모자이크를 수행하였다. 모자이크는 Geomatica 2018 소프트웨어의 Mosaic tool을 사용하였고 blend with를 200pixel로 하여 minimum relative difference를 통해 seamline을 계산하여 수행하였다. 제작된 모자이크 영상은 행정구역 shape 파일로 clip하여 불필요한 부분을 최종적으로 제거해주었다.

3-1) 밴드통합

모자이크가 수행된 영상을 통해 Red, Green, Blue 밴드를 통합하여 RGB 이미지를 제작하고, NIR, Red, Green 밴드를 통합하여 CIR 이미지를 제작하였다.

3-2) 밴드 비 분석

분광적 특징을 넓게 활용하기 위하여 다양한 밴드를 활용하여 광학지수를 제작하였다. 기존 연구에서 제작하였던 광학지수를 갱신하였고, 19종의 신규 광학지수를 추가로 생성하였다. 기존 연구에서 제작하였던 광학지수의 연산식은 Table 3에서 볼 수 있으며, 신규로 제작한 광학지수의 연산식은 Table 4에서 볼 수 있다 (Baek et al., 2020; Wang et al., 2007; Ceccato et al., 2002; Glenn et al., 2010; Gobron et al., 2000; Hunt et al., 2011; Ahamed et al., 2011; Gitelson et al., 2004; Hancock et al., 2007; Herrmann et al., 2011; Key et al., 2002; Barnes et al., 2000; Clarke et al., 2001; El-Shikha et al., 2008; Herrmann et al., 2010; Pinter et al., 2003; Segal, 1982; Apan et al., 2003; Daughtry et al., 2000; Eitel et al., 2007; Galvao et al., 2005; Haboudan et al., 2002; Merzlyak et al., 2003; Haboudan et al., 2004; Wu et al., 2008; Zarco-Tejada et al., 2007; Gitelson et al., 1996; Gitelson et al., 2003; Bannari et al., 1995; Misra et al., 1977; Rasul et al., 2018)

RGB 및 CIR 이미지 조합 외에 Blue, Red, Green, NIR, SWIR 밴드를 이용하여 정규화지수 결과물을 생성하였다. 래스터 밴드 간 연산은 정규화지수 별로 아래의 연산식(Kaufman and Tanre, 1992; Huete et al., 2008; Schlemmer et al., 2013; Myneni et al., 1995; Ustuner et al., 2014; Crippen, 1990; Ren et al., 2018; Penuelas et al., 1995; Gobron et al., 2000; Gitelson et al., 2002; Jin and Sader, 2005; Ji et al., 2009)을 활용하였다(Table 2).

4. 결과

이와 같은 자료 산출방법을 사용하여 17종의 기존 위성산출물 자료를 갱신하고 19종의 신규 위성산출물 자료를 생성하였다. Fig. 1 – Fig. 4가 기존 위성산출물의 2021년 자료이고 Fig. 5 – Fig. 6이 신규 위성 산출물 자료이다.

5. 결론

본 연구는 기존에 제작되었던 17종의 위성산출물 2021년 버전을 갱신하고 더욱 넓은 분광적 특징을 반영하는 19종의 신규 위성산출물 자료를 제작하여 위성영상 분석 데이터 구축 및 서비스를 확장하였다. 또한, 제작된 자료는 범용성을 위해 ASCII, ArcGIS Grid, GeoTIFF의 3가지 자료형을 채택하였으며, 남한 전체뿐만 아니라 9개 권역(강원, 경기, 경남, 경북, 전남, 전북, 제주, 충남, 충북) 별도로 제작하였다. 이렇게 제작된 위성산출물은 국토 모니터링과 같은 큰 규모의 연구에 적극 활용될 수 있을 것이라고 생각한다. 또한, 지속적인 데이터의 축적으로 추후 시계열 분석이 가능한 빅데이터로 제공될 수 있을 것이다. 연구를 통해 제작된 위성산출물은 환경빅데이터 홈페이지(www.bigdata-environment.kr)에서 무료로 제공되며, 매년 갱신을 통해 최신화 된 데이터를 제공할 것이다.
